These plans sound fine to me. You might want to stay somewhat closer to
campus and downtown. La Quinta is probably a 30-40 minute walk to campus
(or I can pick you up in the mornings). Somewhat worse, it is the same
sort of walk from downtown Davis, where the restaurants, coffee shops,
bookstores, etc are where you might want to relax. Should we try to
get you a place closer to downtown and campus?

Dear Richard,
thank you very much. Unfortunately, my participation in the KITP conference was settled only last week, so I could finalize my plans only on last Friday.

DEar Nils,
It looks like you are set for October 7. Let me know your
precise travel arrangements when they are available and
I will arrange hotel, airport pick up, etc.
It is best to fly into Sacramento (20 minutes from Davis)
as opposed to San FRancisco (90 minutes away). I think
there are direct Santa BArbara-Sacramento flights.
Originally, I planned to fly in from Germany to Sacramento via San Francisco, as you suggested, on October 6. However, I then decided to spend an additional night in/near San Francisco, in order to recover from the 12-hour flight and the 9-hour time shift and to go to Davis by rental car. So my plan is as follows:
Oct 6: arrival by rental car in Davis before 5 pm (I have to return the car by 5:30 at the Hertz office in 5000 Chiles road)
Oct 6-9: Stay in hotel (La Quinta Inn & Suites Davis, 1771 Research Park Dr, Davis)
Oct 9: 10:46 Flight UA 6835 from Sacramento to Los Angeles (then AA 3080 to Santa Barbara, arrival at 14:10)
Rental car and flight are now fixed (i.e. nonrefundable). In principle, I could cancel the hotel reservation.
Is this o.k. with you? I would be available in the department on October 7 and 8.

Dear Dan,
I see you listed on the tentative teaching assignment sheet as
in
charge of the Fall CM seminar. Is October 7 reserved yet? If
not,
could we schedule it for Prof. Nils Bluemer of Mainz?

He will be at a conference at KITP that week, so this would be a
good
opportunity to have him visit while he is close by. He would
likely
talk about antiferromagnetism in cold atoms work which appeared
in PRL
on Aug 3:
